Giles “Bud” Kennedy died at his Hollister home at the age of 79.

He graduated from San Benito High School in 1942, where he plyed clarinet in the band and was active in FFA raising hogs.

Drafted into the Navy, he went to aviation machinist school in Okla. and flight mechanic school in New York.

He was a state champion hog caller, Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader for many years.

Kennedy worked at Tiffany Motor Company. After 42 years, he retired at the age of 65.

He was a member of Grace Bible Church, American Legio, Disabled American Veterans and Model A Ford Clubn of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Fay Kennedy, brother Richard Kennedy and two children.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Kennedy of Hollister, son Jeffrey and Marie Louise Kennedy of Hollister, daughter Judith and Bob Maddox of Gresham, Ore.,brothers Steve Kennedy of Hollister and Jerry and Anita Kennedy of Casa Grande, Ariz., sister Carol Bacon of Hollister, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 from noon to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. A reception will follow the services at Grace Bible Church on 7th and Monterey Streets.

Military rites and graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 22 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella at 10 a.m.

Donations can be sent to the Parkinson’s Institute or Grace Bible Church c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St. Hollister.
