Hollister resident Ana M. Valdez died at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Thursday, Oct. 30 after a short illness. She was 75.

She was born July 26, 1928 in Laoag City, Philippine Islands and came to San Benito County in 1982.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Filipino American Association of San Benito County and the Laoagenian Association of Salinas.

She was a homemaker, housewife and nurse assistant for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Romulo Valdez Sr., of Hollister; daughters Leticia (Rosario) Foronda of Hollister, Florence Valdez of Hollister, and Maybel Savella of Hollister; sons Romulo Valdez Jr., of Hollister, Lito (Linda) Valdez of Hollister, and Edison (Nini) Valdez of Hollister; and sister Alejandria Estacio of the Philippine Islands. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother Rodrigo Macayan and her parents Leopolo and Maxima Macayan.

Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. until the Rosary service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 8 from Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home at 9 a.m. to St. Benedict Catholic Church on Fairview Road for a funeral Mass to be offered at 9:30 a.m.

Burial and graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister.

Donations may be made to Ana’s family.
