Election Office Needs to Learn from Mistakes in District 5
Race.

(Free Lance editorial, May 27).
Dear Editor:

On “Election Office Needs to Learn from Mistakes in District 5 Race.” (Free Lance editorial, May 27).

“It’s a catch-22 in our state’s election process.” Stop right there. I wish to thank state Sen. Bruce McPherson and former Assemblyman Peter Frusetta for being able to vote absentee ballot. I just mail it in.

There used to be a saying. As a veteran, “you can die for your country, but you can’t vote in it yet.”

Years ago, veterans ran for government at the local, state and federal levels to make things fair. A person that lost both legs and an arm still has the right to vote.

With so many World War II veterans passing on, thank you for that right.

Robert Gila,

Hollister
