Two local agencies and a state agency partnered in conducting a seven-hour operation June 12 to “combat local violence and gang activity” and arrested eight suspects.

The Hollister Police Department, San Benito County Probation Department and California Department of Corrections conducted the joint operation within city limits, according to a press release from the HPD.

According to the statement: Agents and officers conducted parole and probation searches of residents and homes and increased traffic patrol “with the goal of reducing criminal activity and identifying violators.”

The statement notes how eight residents were arrested with recommended charges ranging from possession of alcohol by minors to parolees being at large. It notes that “several” of the residents arrested have gang affiliations.

The suspects ranged in age from 16 to 44, according to the statement. Other charges included violation of probation and warrants.
