He came back to Hollister from Watsonville after living there for the past 20 years. He was originally in Hollister after moving from Gallup as a young boy. He worked as a printer and a truck driver. His wish was to one day be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and he had a very big heart and would help anyone in need. He liked the outdoors and animals and enjoyed reading Watchtower and Awake magazines.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Martinez of Hollister; his mother, Mary Lou Cantu of Hollister; and his two daughters, Monique Martinez of Watsonville and Valerie Martinez of Hollister,; his sisters, Nina Gonzales of Salinas and Connie Martinez of Hollister. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends can pay their respects on Friday, Dec. 17 after 11am at the Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister.

Friends and family will share a celebration of his life at 1pm on Friday. The services will be followed by cremation with private family interment at the IOOF Cemetery at a later time.

Donations are preferred to a special memorial fund in memory of Alex c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St. Hollister, CA 95023.
