Hollister – San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hollister man Wednesday on four felony counts of child molestation, according to police.
After a month-long investigation, deputies arrested 53-year-old Hollister business owner James Robinson for allegedly molesting four females he had a relationship with, Undersheriff Pat Turturici said.
Three of the victims are now adults, and the fourth is a 13-year-old girl, Turturici said. The 13-year-old told officials at her Hollister-area school that Robinson touched her inappropriately. The school then notified Child Protective Services, which alerted police, Turturici said.
After the 13-year-old came forward, the three other victims followed suit, he said.
Police believe the three adult victims were continuously molested approximately 10 to 13 years ago when the women were minors, Detective Tom Keylon said. Although police confirmed Robinson had a relationship with all four victims, they declined to comment on the nature of that relationship in order to protect the victims’ identities.
Turturici praised the 13-year-old for her courage in reporting the incident. Many incidents of child molestation go unreported because the victims feel ashamed, he said.
“I commend the victim for coming forward,” he said. “Hopefully it will keep (Robinson) from doing it to any one else.”
A child molestation conviction could send him to prison for up to 8 years, according to state law.
