Andrew Samuel Fernandez passed away Saturday morning in Hollister. He was devoted to Evelyn, his wife of 42 years, who survives him. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Kozean Wright, son-in-law, Pat Wright and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Andy was born at Idria Mines and was the youngest child of Juan and Nicolasa Fernandez, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his sisters, Martina Machado, Margaret Gutierrez, Ida Larios and Theresa Smith.

Andy attended local schools and graduated from Hollister High School. He was a veteran of WWII, serving on the US Navy Light Cruiser, USS Omaha as it patrolled the South Atlantic. After returning home, he was a member of the Eagles Drum and Bugle Corp. and was a local tile contractor for over 30 years.

“Uncle Andy” as his family called him, never met a stranger.

Family and friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Friday, November 28th from Noon to 6:00 P.M. and Saturday after 9:00 A.M. followed by the funeral services commencing at 11:00 A.M.

Graveside services will follow at the mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. Contributions are preferred to the Community Foundation, Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility or your favorite Charity.
