Andrew Trinchero passed away at Gilroy Healthcare on Aug. 18. He was born in Oakland, CA to Francesca and Severino Trinchero then returned to Torino Italy where he lived for 11 years. He returned to the US and settled in Gilroy, CA with his Aunt Mary and Uncle John Giachina.

His family founded Hecker Pass Inn Restaurant on 1st Street in Gilroy and they operated that business from 1929 until the late 1970’s.

Andrew married Eva Rocchi in 1937 who survives him. They were married for 71 years. He was preceded in death by a son James Trinchero. He is also survived by a son John of Gilroy and three grandchildren, Shelly and Shana, both of Santa Cruz and Andy Trinchero of Gilroy.

Andy and Eva operated several Gilroy businesses which included Hecker Pass Inn, Creamery, grocery store, gambling parlor and as a real estate broker.

Services will be held to celebrate the life of Andy Monday August 25 starting with a viewing at 10:00 A.M. followed by an 11:00 A.M. Mass both at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made in Andy’s honor to the Gifts of Love Program of the Italian Catholic Federation, C/O St. Mary’s ICF Branch 28.

Andrew was a longtime member of the Gilroy Elk’s Lodge and a long time member of the Italian Catholic Federation, Branch 28. He loved to cook, play golf and will be sorely missed.
