Antonio “Tony” Escobedo died March 18 at his home in Gustine, Calif. He was 53.

He was a native of San Benito, Texas and had lived in Gustine for seven years. He previously lived in San Jose for 15 years and Hollister for seven years. He worked his entire life, having specialized in Tire Repair. He last worked at San Benito Tire Company for six years, and prior to that, for Rose Murty Tire Company and Bob Lozano Tire Company.

He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved his parents and siblings and would do anything for them. They all held a special place in his heart. He loved family BBQs in Hollister and most recently, his family reunion in Gustine. He worked hard and lived hard. He enjoyed being at the ranch “getting the roosters ready,” as well as driving and listening to music.

He is survived by his wife Maria Escobedo of Gustine, children Juan Escobedo of Los, Anthony Escobedo of Sacramento and Rita Caldera of Gustine, brother Manual Escobedo of Turlock, sisters Irma Rodriguez and Rebecca Martinez of Hollister, Anna Machado and Elvira Diaz of San Jose and Elida Traulsen of Scotts Valley. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

The Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23 at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Gustine. The Mass service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church in Gustine. Burial will follow at Hills-Ferry Cemetery in Newman. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
