Hollister – Four people were injured Saturday morning in a one-car crash east of Rocks Road on Highway 156.

Mauricio Lopez, 25, of Salinas, and three unidentified passengers were airlifted to hospitals in San Jose and Santa Clara.

Lopez was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 156 when he fell asleep at 3:10am, according to the California Highway Patrol. Lopez overcorrected after the pickup drifted into the center divide, then veered off the road and onto a dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to roll, the CHP said.

Lopez had major injuries, including lacerations, and was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, as was a 55-year-old woman passenger who suffered major injuries to her legs.

A 21-year-old woman and a 50-year-old woman were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, according to the CHP.

Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash and no arrests have been made.

Another vehicle rollover occurred Monday morning in the 2900 block of Fairview Road, blocking northbound traffic for a short time.

The driver of that car was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, the CHP said, but the extent of her injuries was not known.

The crash is still under investigation.
