Armando S. Quintana died Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Hazel Hawkins
Hospital at the age of 50.
Originally born in El Paso, Texas, Quintana lived in Hollister
for 13 years where he was an assistant coach for the San Benito
High School wrestling team.

Armando S. Quintana died Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital at the age of 50.

Originally born in El Paso, Texas, Quintana lived in Hollister for 13 years where he was an assistant coach for the San Benito High School wrestling team.

He received his bachelor’s degree at California State University, Stanislaus, and a master’s degree from CSU Sacramento. He was a psychologist for several schools over the years including the San Benito County Office of Education, Pajaro Valley Schools and Greenfield School District. Quintana also served as director of special services at the Hughson School District. Locally, he was involved with El Teatro Campesino and Esperanza del Valle.

Quintana is survived by his wife, Alma Quintana of Hollister; children Alejandro Quintana of Hollister and Jamie Horne of Grants Pass, Ore.; siblings Bernardino Quintana Jr. of Fairfield, Calif., Manuel Quintana of Cottonwood, Calif., Lupe Rodriguez of Hollister and Lola DeLaRosa of Campbell, Calif. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends can pay their respects Friday, Jan. 2, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and after 5 p.m. at St. Benedict Church. A vigil service will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at St. Benedict’s.

Funeral services will begin Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and then proceed to St. Benedict’s for a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
