Dear Editor,

Seems in “Memories of the Prune Bowl” and “The Reflection on Wartime” something was left out.

Alvin Painter played football for Hollister in 1948 or ’49 or so. His family moved to Gilroy and he played football for Gilroy.

He joined the O.S. Army in 1950 and was killed in Korea the same year.

A time to be remembered each year “the Forgotten War.”

Robert Gila, Hollister
