with PR’s as the Balers swept Palma and Live Oak in a
tri-Tri-County Athletic League meet on Monday.
The Balers swamped the Chieftains 18-41 and doubled up the
Acorns 20-40. Live Oak’s Billy Wong was first with a time of 16:56,
with Rivera second. Then came two Balers – Josh Vasquez (17:18) and
talented freshman Alfredo Lopez (17:28).

Then came two Balers – Josh Vasquez (17:18) and talented freshman Alfredo Lopez (17:28). Kyle Fowles was sixth for the Balers at 17:37. Rigo Vasquez placed eighth at 17:54, while Eddie Trujillo 10th at 18:01 as the Balers put together their strongest showing of the season.
“I’m just getting these guys ready to run big meets,” said Baler head coach Jess Morales. “They ran real well. So did the girls.”
The Baler girls varsity also swept their opponents, besting Notre Dame 16-43 and Live Oak 22-39. The Balers Jamie O’brian was second with a 21:27. Right behind O’brian were Tara Hill (22:03) and Jamila Saqqa (22:08). Lee Ann Morales, who is recovering from an illness, ran a 22:37 for sixth place. Britni Skaedoutas was the top frosh-soph runner for the Balers, clocking 23:00.
The Baler JV boys toppled Palma 15-45 and Live Oak 15-48. The Balers placed one through sixth to dominate the meet. Jeff Spencer was first at 17:33 with Kevin Viera second at 18:19.
San Benito is at the Artichoke Invitational at Half Moon Bay this Saturday.
