The San Benito freshman softball team won its Tri-County Athletic League opener by beating Salinas 8-0 on Wednesday.

Tiana Butler launched a three-run triple in the bottom of the first inning and Stephanie Young threw a complete game and allowed two hits.

“The girls played solid defense and were aggressive at bat,” coach Rebecca Guiterrez said. “I am looking forward to a great season.”

The freshman team’s next home game will be against Notre Dame at 4:30pm Thursday.
