Three of the four wins this year for the Balers have come against Division 1 teams.
The lead changed hands several times in the game, but the Balers rallied after being down 30-27 at the end of the third quarter.
The Balers committed 22 turnovers in the game – most of which were in the first half. Oak Grove (1-1) led 22-17 at halftime.
With 5:35 left in the game, the Balers fell behind 39-32 when Anya Vines, who had 11 points, drained one of her two three pointers in the game.
Mallorie Wilson came up with a big block on an Oak Grove attempt with 4:51 remaining to help give the Balers some life and spark a comeback.
Jamie Hall, who had nine points for the Balers, had a key offensive board and putback to get within two points with 3:19 left.
The Balers took the lead at 44-43 with 1:30 to go on back-to-back baskets by Danielle Andrewson, who had eight points.
San Benito called a timeout with 1:11 left, and then Hall grabbed a couple rebounds before being fouled. She made both of her free throws. And Wilson added a free throw with six seconds left to seal the win.
Trisha Lee led the Balers with 12 points. Oak Grove’s Jessica Scialabba, who is from Hollister, also had 12 points including a three pointer.
The Balers, who were coming off a 48-29 win Saturday at Watsonville, will play Dec. 9 at King City.
