Practice paid off for the San Benito High girls golf team. The Balers outstroked visiting Notre Dame 200-214 at Ridgemark Golf Course on Thursday.

Playing on the Diablo Course front nine, Ashly Cullumber led the Balers with a steady 46. Jenny Maheu shot one of her best rounds of the season with a 47. Hillary Williams carded a 53, Corryn Pacheco a 54. Other Balers were Megan Smith at 55 and Johni Kiesewetter with a 57.

“We’ve been practicing hard on our chipping and putting,” said Baler head coach Mark Tinder. “We were able to shave some strokes because of it.”

The Balers are at home on Tuesday vs. Monterey.

Last week’s postponed match with Robert Louis Stevenson has been rescheduled for Oct. 16 at Spyglass Hill CC.
