The race for the Tri-County Athletic League boys golf title tightened Thursday when Palma clipped Hollister 154-157 at Corral De Tierra in Salinas.

North Salinas was third at 159 in the tightest three-team match this year for the Balers.

Hollister was awarded two points in the team standings for a 17-point total. The Chieftains earned one point and are now tied with the Balers for first place.

“Like I said, it’s all coming down to the league meet,” said Baler coach Mitch Thomas. “It’s double the points. Anyone can win it. We’re going to have to have a good day.”

The T-CAL tournament is April 29 at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley.

Hollister had balanced scoring with Ian Hudson carding a 37, followed by Chris Zubiaga’s 38, 41s from Matt Lopez and John Dempsey and 42s from Danny Rivera and Zach Zgragen.

The Balers are at the Atwater Tournament in Stevenson on Monday.
