The San Benito girls soccer team dominated the game at North Monterey County from the very start, winning 5-1.

The Condors kept up a heavy defense, preventing the Balers from getting a clean shot early on.

But in the 15th minute, Jenny Maheu scored on a well placed throw in by Jennifer Tobias. A few minutes later, off a pass from Amy Baxter, Rose Vandenberg scored the second goal.

The Balers continued to win almost every ball in the air and were first to the ball many times. The good pressure on the Condors defensive side led to goal number three by Chantel Guajardo.

Minutes later, Maheu leaped into the air to head a beautifully placed corner kick from Rose Vandenberg for the fourth goal in the first half half.

The Balers again dominated in the second half. Shortly into the second frame, Maheu took a shot that deflected off the goal post, but Michelle Sanchez was right there and beat the goalkeeper to put in goal number five.

The Condors did not let down. With a very fast attack, they got behind the Baler defense to put in their only goal of the game. That was the only time the Condors would be even get close to another goal. The Condors had just three shots on goal during the game.

San Benito (1-0-1) will play next on Thursday against visiting Monterey at 3:30 p.m.

JV Note: The JV team defeated North County 3-2.
