Hollister – The Tri-County Athletic League co-champion San Benito girls soccer team will open the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs at home Wednesday, taking on sixth-seeded Leigh at 6pm.

The Haybalers (13-5-2) were awarded the final seed in the 12-team field, but earned the home game by virtue of their co-league championship.

“I figured we’d be in that 10-12 range,” Schurig said.

Leigh (9-2-7) finished second in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division, going 6-2-6 in league play under coach Michelle Kennedy to finish behind Santa Teresa, the No. 2 seed.

The ‘Balers were originally given the No. 11 seed, but were swapped with Piedmont Hills to avoid having Leigh square off with its BVAL rival.

Gilroy, which shared the title with San Benito, got the 10th seed and will also host a first-round game Wednesday, facing No. 7 Homestead at 5pm.

Notre Dame was selected as the sixth seed in the Division III playoffs to round out TCAL entrants.
