San Benito is on a roll after winning four consecutive games and not losing since the opening game at Valley Christian and should be the favorite during Saturday’s game against North Salinas.

Although North Salinas (1-5) has won just once – a 21-0 victory over Gonzales – San Benito coach Chris Cameron is not going to overlook them.

“There’s no way. They got too many good athletes,” Cameron said. “They have a number of backs and weapons we have to stop. It always starts with playing well up front. Our offensive line may have had one of its best games last week. We have to be more efficient in the red zone and keep the turnover ratio in our favor.”

The Balers won’t have to worry about North Salinas graduate Ronnie Drummer, who set a school single-season rushing record with more than 1,500 yards.

But the Vikings do have Andrew Quinones, who was second on the team in rushing.

The Vikings also have a strong kicking game. Alex Vaca had six field goals last year of 30 yards or longer and also made 38 of has 41 PATs.

The Balers are coming into the game fairly healthy. Quarterback Karson Klauer is still a little sore after a gutsy performance in the 7-6 victory over Gilroy. Linebacker Colin Parker also took a pretty good hit last week, but Cameron expects both players to be able to play.

Kicker and tight end Art Esparza is returning after injury.
