Editor,

What good news in the Thursday Free Lance. “Manteca Mulls Large Fines for Owners of Foreclosed Homes.” How about this, Hollister? Shouldn’t we be doing something similar here? There’s one property in particular with windows boarded up, a fence falling down, grass overgrown, newspapers at the entryway, trees weeping sticky stuff on the sidewalk and illegal palm trees blocking the sidewalk. It’s a shame! The out-of-county bank that owns the property isn’t doing anything to improve the looks of the home. It was on the market for a while at too high a price for a fixer-upper so it didn’t sell. In my opinion, the owner should be responsible for fixing up the home and maintaining it until it sells. What an eyesore!
