Our dear Barbara passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011, at home in Fremont, CA, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Gladstone, VA, the fourth child of the late John and Mary Kahn.

The family moved to Morgan Hill when Barbara was a child. She attended Morgan Hill Elementary School and was a 1957 graduate of Live Oak High School where she was senior class president.

She attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, TX and graduated from San Jose State College with a degree in Art, following which she taught school in Jamestown, CA.

She was a great teacher, a great cook, a great singer, a great pianist, a great artist, a great seamstress and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. But her days ended on Sunday morning, following long years of battling cancers, first breast cancer and then ovarian cancer.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill Thomas, Jr., daughters Juliet Thomas and Erika Minor, granddaughter Sophia Minor, all of Fremont.

She also leaves brothers J. Charles (Ellen) Kahn of Selma, CA, Richard Kahn of Morgan Hill and sisters Carol (David Sr.) Agaliotis and Eleanor (Ken) Keuning of Mariposa, CA. She also left numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and a host of friends.

Of late, she remarked that some of her happiest days were spent working with her Sunday School class of Junior girls, ages nine to twelve, at Lincoln Glen Church where she was a long-time member.

Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M., February 3, 2011, at Lincoln Glen Church, 2700 Booksin Ave., San Jose, CA 95125

Peace to her memory.
