OAKLAND
Pushing across 24 points for the fourth time in its last five contests, the Central Coast Barnstormers shut out the Oakland Vipers last Saturday on the road en route to its fifth straight win, sixth this season.
The Barnstormers, a semi-pro football team based out of Gilroy, will put its win streak on the line this Saturday when the rival Salinas Spartans come to the Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.
Central Coast hasn’t lost a game since its Week 2 matchup on March 21, when the Barnstormers fell to the defending national champion Pacifica Islanders. Since then, however, the team has been mowing down the competition on its way to a 6-1 record and 216-133 point differential.
Central Coast, which stands atop the National Conference South standings, holds a two-game lead in the loss column on the California Warriors and the Salinas Spartans, both of which carry matching 4-3 records.
The Barnstormers and Spartans will kick-off at 6 p.m., on Saturday night in Gilroy. The game will also be the first of a three-game homestand for Central Coast to wrap up the regular season.
On May 9, the Barnstormers will host the East Bay Outlaws before the California Warriors come to Gilroy on May 16 to close out the season.
