San Benito's Craig Slibsager bats Thursday during their away game against Gilroy.

Behind six strong innings from starter Jake Cabral, and six innings from the bullpen, San Benito opened the Valley Christian Crown Classic with a dramatic 12-inning 2-1 win over the defending North Coast Section champion James Logan.

San Benito held a 1-0 lead with two outs in the seventh inning, before an error led to an unearned James Logan run.

Afterward, the game went seven scoreless innings before San Benito regained the lead.

Following a Ryan Jacob hit, first baseman Jose Guzman drove in his second run of the game with a single.

Guzman finished the game going 1-for-6 with two RBIs.

“It was a pretty great game,” manager Billy Aviles said. “Logan was a solid club. We had some opportunities early but it was a great game. It was a fun game to play.”

San Benito continues the Valley Christian Crown Classic at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday against Wilcox and Wilcox High.
