as the Balers earned their 12th win of the season, 10th in
Tri-County Athletic League play, with a comfortable 10-2 victory
over the Vikings.

The San Benito High baseball team plated three runs in the first inning against visiting North Salinas and never looked back Friday, as the Balers earned their 12th win of the season, 10th in Tri-County Athletic League play, with a comfortable 10-2 victory over the Vikings.

Dustin Rovella went just three innings but picked up the win, nonetheless, allowing no runs on three hits. Cody Gessell (2IP, 2H, 2R, 1K), Robert Soto (1IP, 2K, 1BB) and Skyler Fuss (1IP, 2K, 1BB) each backed Rovella up in relief.
At the plate, Craig Slibsager led the Balers with a 3 of 4 performance. He had a pair of doubles and three RBI.
Marcus Sabatte, who connected on a home run, added a pair of RBIs for San Benito, which improves to 10-2 in the TCAL, 12-4 overall. Meanwhile, Darin Gillies, Matt Vallejo, Jacob Tonascia, Daniel Arevalo and Ryan Jacob each contributed an RBI knock, while Bryan Granger, Tonascia and Arevalo each had a pair of hits.
The Balers controlled a three-run lead after one complete inning, a lead that held until the fourth frame when they tacked on another run.
North Salinas cut the deficit in half with a pair of runs in the top half of the fifth, but San Benito responded with two runs of its own in the home half of the inning. The Balers then added four more runs in the sixth to stretch its lead to eight runs.
San Benito will hit the road Tuesday when it will travel to Salinas to take on Everett Alvarez. First pitch is 4 p.m.
