The Coastal Athletic League game was called in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.

Brian Fredrickson tossed just 68 pitches in the five innings for Anzar, giving up just two hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out eight batters. Furthermore, Fredrickson didn’t walk a single batter.

Meanwhile, at the plate, the starting pitcher helped his cause by drawing three walks, scoring four runs, while also connecting on a double and two RBIs.

It was Nick Salgado who provided just about all the run support Anzar would need when he hit a two-run double in the first inning. He finished 2 of 3 with three RBI.

Blake Selsor also drew several walks — four of them, to be exact. And he scored each time to lead the Hawks, which led 3-0 after one inning, 6-0 after two, before breaking the game open with 14 additional runs in the third and fourth frames.

Josh Holtzclaw, meanwhile, went 3 of 5 for the Hawks with one run and two RBI.

Anzar is now 6-0 in the CAL, 9-5 overall. The team will host St. Francis CCC on Monday at 4 p.m.
