Hollister American and Hollister National will square off in the semifinal round of the District 9 Major Division All-Star Tournament on Tuesday in Salinas after each team handled its respective competition last weekend.

Hollister American, fresh off a 10-0 quarterfinal victory against Ferrasci, has outscored its three opponents by a 19-0 margin, while Hollister National, which is coming off a 16-0 win over Gonzales in the quarterfinals, has won its three games by a 36-2 differential.

The two teams will meet up on Tuesday at the Atlantic Little League fields in Salinas. First pitch is 5 p.m.

The winner will advance to Sunday’s championship round undefeated.

Meanwhile, the Junior Division All-Stars remain undefeated in their respective District 9 tournament.

Hollister, which opened the six-team tournament last Monday with a convincing 23-0 win over Gonzales, has since topped Continental by a 28-0 margin.

Hollister will now play in Tuesday’s semifinal against Atlantic, which has already defeated North County 17-0 and Hartnell 18-8.

The Junior All-Stars semifinal will be held at Salinas’ Muni Stadium at 4:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to Saturday’s championship final.

Both Hollister American and Hollister National remain alive in the 10- and 11-year-old District 9 Tournament as well.

The two teams met up in the semifinal round on Monday night at Veterans Memorial Park in Hollister, although no score was reported at press time.

The winner would advance to Friday’s championship round, which is slated to be played at Gonzales Little League at 5 p.m.

The loser, however, would move into the elimination bracket, where it would face off against either Gonzales or King City on Wednesday.

Two of the four Hollister teams in the 9- and 10-year-old District 9 All-Star Tournament remained alive through the weekend as well.

While both Hollister American “2” and Hollister National “2” were eliminated last week — each team lost in the elimination bracket to King City — both Hollister American “1” and Hollister National “1” remained in contention.

In fact, Hollister National was scheduled to play Soledad during Monday night’s semifinal round in Salinas, although no score was reported at press time.

A Hollister win, though, would advance National to Saturday’s championship round. But a loss would place the local National League All-Stars into the elimination bracket, where they could see either King City or Hollister American.

Those two teams will meet on Tuesday night at the American Little League fields in Salinas, with a first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. Hollister American was placed into the elimination bracket after a 6-1 loss to Soledad last Friday in Salinas.
