Bernice Frances Herman, of Live Oak, CA died Monday, January 24, 2011.

She was born on January 2, 1926, to Emily and Alfred Fantozzi, grew up in Morgan Hill, attended Notre Dame High School and graduated from Live Oak High School.

Bernice was married on December 19, 1944, to Andy Herman, her husband of 50 years. They farmed prunes and walnuts in the Santa Clara Valley before moving to Live Oak, where they continued to farm.

Bernice loved to play bridge and was active in California Women for Agriculture, Marysville Art Club and Live Oak Women’s Club.

She is survived by her daughter Gayle, son Andy Jr., three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Craig, husband Andy, and brother Alfred Fantozzi.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 17400 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill, with a reception immediately following mass at the home of Earl Goforth.

The committal service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln Avenue, Santa Clara.
