Betty B. Notar passed away at her daughter’s home in Hollister at the age of 87.
She was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in Hollister for the past nine years moving here from Mojave in 2002 and had lived in Mojave since 1955. She came to Hollister with her husband to live with her daughter.
She worked many years as a guidance counselor at Mojave High School where she touched and changed many young people’s lives. She was involved in The International Fellowship Exchange Program and she was always willing to open her heart and home to those in need. She was a member of Hollister United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong learner who earned her bachelor’s degree at Seattle University, her master’s degree at the University of Washington and her doctorate at the U.S. International University in San Diego in 1975. She served her country honarably during WWII in the US Marine Corps.
Her hobbies were genealogy, Lapidary, sewing and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, who died in 2003 and is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Cathie and Ron Greenberg of Centreville, MI, Bonnie and Cliff Weedman of Escondido, CA and Toni Notar and Steve Kain of Hollister. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Remi Sue Notar who died in 1963 and her grandson, Sean Wyckoff who died in 2010.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the Hollister United Methodist Church, 5th and Monterey Streets, Hollister.
Inurnment will be in Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, CA.
