Sherman, Texas- Betty Lucille Wiggins passed away Monday, April 2 in the Homestead of Sherman at the age of 84.
Betty was born on February 6, 1923 in Gilroy, California to the late Robert and Winifred (White) Sharpe. Betty was a fourth generation Gilroyan. She graduated from Gilroy schools and married Walton Wiggins on May 29, 1942 in Reno, Nevada. She and Walt lived most of their married life in Gilroy and Morgan Hill. They were avid square dancers and members of the Gilroy Gliders. They traveled extensively during retirement until Walt’s death in 2005. Betty moved to Sherman in January 2006 to be closer to her family.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Clancy and her husband Bob of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren, Maureen Smith and husband Joe of Sherman, Texas and Robert Clancy and wife Claudia of Plano; and one great-grandson, Drew N. Smith of Sherman.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association at 4100 Alpha Rd. Suite 100, Dallas, TX 75244.
