A motorcycle accident on Highway 156 between Union Road and Flynn Road sent a man to a Bay Area hospital by helicopter with complaints of pain, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At 10:24 a.m. today, it was reported that a man had crashed his motorcycle into the back of a truck. The male motorcycle rider was eastbound on Highway 156, near Union Road, when traffic came to a stop and he could not halt on time.
The motorcyclist collided with what a CHP officer said was a Chevrolet 1500 truck.
About 25 minutes after the accident, the victim was strapped to a backboard, put in the ambulance and driven to the helicopter’s landing zone nearby.
Workers with the California Department of Transportation stayed behind to continue directing traffic while two CHP officers remained on the scene to continue their investigation.
Also responding to the call were officials from CalTrans, American Medical Response, CalFire, the Hollister Fire Department and the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.
The CHP did not have further details on the victim or driver.
