A Morgan Hill man died in a motorcycle accident in San Benito County early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Sean Messina, 41, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on San Juan Highway, just south of Anderson Road, when he ran off the road to the west, authorities said. He collided with a metal guard rail. It is unknown why Messina’s vehicle left the roadway, according to the CHP.

Messina was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

Police received a call regarding the accident about 7 a.m. Saturday. Based on witness statements, authorities think the accident happened about 12:30 a.m.
