Hollister – The Hollister School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously in favor of the contract between the district and its teachers at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The two-year agreement was previously ratified by the Hollister Elementary School Teachers’ Association. It will result in a 4.9 percent salary increase for teachers and two additional paid days for teacher development.

“This has been a long process, but a very amiable one,” HSD Superintendent Ron Crates said. “I hope in the future we go through the process in the same way.”

The board members all spoke favorably of the agreement, and of the negotiation process.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank the association and Dr. Crates,” said Alice Flores, board president.

The negotiation process for the two-year contract began in September of 2006 and the contract will expire in June 2008.
