A 9-year-old Cerra Vista School student is suspected of telling a teacher he was going to bring a gun to school Monday, the Hollister Police Department reported.

Officers responded to the school, 2151 Cerra Vista Drive, at 11 a.m. Monday, the department reported.

The student previously had been expelled from Sunnyslope School for bringing a weapon to school, but it wasn’t a firearm that time, said officer Rosie Betanio, spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department.

The spokeswoman said she does not know what school officials plan to do.

A teacher told officers the boy was upset because he forgot school materials and angrily entered the classroom, Betanio said.

The teacher told the boy to go outside and enter the class in a respectful manner, officers reported.

At the end of class, the student looked at the teacher and said, “I’m going to get my gun now,” Betanio said.

Police cited the boy for threats.

Betanio said the boy’s history may have caused more concern when the suspect comment was made.

“It’s going to be up to probation to decide if further action is going to be taken,” Betanio said.*
