Hollister’s best will be going at it tonight for the District 9 Majors Tournament of Champions championship.

The game will be at 5:30 p.m. at Gonzales. Although both teams are from Hollister, the tournament directors would not allow it to be moved to the home field because of the revenue it generates.

The Yankees and the Brewers are no strangers to each other. The Brewers received their only loss this season against the Yankees.

“It’s going to be a battle this time around,” said Yankees manager Robert Fabing, whose team is 22-3 and has won 14 games in a row. “We are going to roll the dice and see what happens. It’s been a great season. We can’t ask any more of the kids.”

The Yankees defeated the Cardinals 10-1 on Wednesday at Gonzales.

Nick Macadaeg led off the game with a home run for the Yankees. Darren Gillies knocked in a run on an error.

The Yankees got four more in the third inning. Macadaeg reached on an error. Trevor Fabing had a base hit, and Kyle Vallejo had a hit to bring in Macadaeg.

Will Cross had a fielder’s choice to bring in a run. Jakob Rice and Craig Slibsager also had RBI hits.

In the fifth inning, Cross hit a little flare that went past the right fielder to allow a run to score. Manny Bueno had a base hit to score the second run.

The Cardinals got their only run in the first inning after a triple by leadoff batter Ricky Garcia. Garcia scored on a passed ball to close the Yankees’ gap to 3-1.

The Cardinals (19-6) got out of a bases-loaded jam in the second inning. Vallejo threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts to pick up the victory for the Yankees.

The Brewers defeated Hartnell 1-0 Wednesday at Hartnell to advance to the championship game.
