Fifth Wall begins auditions

Hollister – The Fifth Wall theater project will hold auditions April 2, at 5 p.m., at Mars Hill Coffee House for its 2013 season, with shows that include “The Boy With No Strings: Pinocchio’s Adventure,” “Iron Curtain the Musical,” and “Dracula: The American Count.” Singers and actors are encouraged to come prepared to sing 16-23 bars of an up tempo song and a ballad. ‘Summertime with Oriana’

HOLLISTER – The Oriana Chorale will kick off the summer with three concerts in its “Summertime with Oriana” series. The concerts will be held at the Hollister First Presbyterian Church May 3 and 7, at 7:30 p.m., and May 5, at 3 p.m. Music will range from fun and lively, such as “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and “Theme from Hawaii Five-O,” to showtunes, such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,” “Summertime,” and “June is Bustin’ Out All Over,” to lovely and lyrical such as “About Us Lies the Summer Night,” “A Red, Red Rose,” and “The Last Rose of Summer.” Tickets are $15. Chamberlain’s work day

HOLLISTER – Chamberlain’s Children Center will host a work day to make improvements to the school on April 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Projects include: weeding, planting, irrigation systems, creating a pizza garden, building c0mpost bins, assembling a brick and mortar outdoor bread and pizza oven, baseball field maintenance, and fixing potholes. HOLLISTER – The San Benito district Cub and Boy Scouts will host a recruiting day April 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Sunnyslope Medical Center, at the corner of Sunnyslope and Memorial Drive. Cub Scouts troops are open to boys in first through fifth grade while Boy Scouts is open to boys 11 to 18 years old. Recycling electronics with the Scouts

HOLLISTER – The Boy Scouts of America San Benito District will host an electronic recycling event April 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Sunnyslope Medical Complex. Residents can drop off computers, TVs, monitors, and small electronic appliances. Details: 831-801-1203.

Walk ’n Roll fun day

HOLLISTER – Local residents are invited to Walk ’N Roll on April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Building in the courtyard. Annual Easter egg hunt

HOLLISTER – The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary Post 9242 will host their annual Easter egg hunt at Veterans Memorial Park March 30, at 1 p.m. There will be three hunting areas for children of different ages, including 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10. For children that do not find any eggs, there will be some available at the command post. No parents will be allowed in the hunting areas and the hunt will start exactly at 1 p.m.

Walk a mile in her shoes

HOLLISTER – Emmaus House and Community Solutions are teaming up for a “march to end gender and teen dating violence, sexual assault, and promote positive, healthier gender relations.” Men are invited to participate for $30, with a pair of women’s heels included in the entry fee, with women invited to participate for $20. The walk is April 6, at 11 a.m., at Fourth and San Benito streets, with a one-mile course marked out. The first person to cross the finish line in heels, the first team to cross the finish line in heels, the top individual fundraiser, top team fundraiser and the largest team will all get prizes. Geocache bash

HOLLISTER – Visit Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area April 13 for the second annual four-wheel drive Geocache Bash. Registration from 8 to 9 a.m, with geocaching from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a free raffle at 3 p.m. and a free lunch at noon compliments of the Hollister Hills Off Road Association. AARP tax aide offered through April 10

HOLLISTER – The AARP Tax-Aide program offers free personal tax counseling and preparation assistance to taxpayers of low-to-middle income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Volunteers will be available to assist residents on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., thru April 10, at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St. Please call ahead to make an appointment. Participants should bring their photo identification and Social Security cards or ITIN documents for each individual on their return, along with any tax documents they have received in the mail, last year’s return, and all relevant information on income and expenses. Camera Club meets

Singles 55+ are invited to dinner

HOLLISTER – Singles 55 and up are invited to join a dinner club in San Benito County that meets on the third Saturday of the month. The group visits area restaurants for the meal, with the choice of each month’s restaurant selected by group majority. The group also enjoys the occasional dinner at a member’s home.
