Britt J. Schweitzer, 82, of Morgan Hill, following a long illness, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday May 8, 2009. He was with family who will miss him dearly.

Britt was a tennis champ in his early years in Washington D.C. where he grew up. Tennis became a lifelong hobby for him. Before leaving Washington, he served in the Navy during World War II. He lived in Chicago for a number of years before moving to California.

Britt taught mathematics at San Jose State University from 1960 to 1988. After retirement, he played the viola with the South Valley Symphony Orchestra for some time. He also played the harpsichord and piano, loved to listen to music, and loved his cats.

Britt is survived by his son Laurence Schweitzer of Morgan Hill, sister June Schaffer of Florida, and many nieces and nephews living in the eastern United States.
