Bruce W. Proctor died on Friday, June 6, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. He was 52.

A native of Queens, New York, Proctor was a former Exulted Ruler of the Hollister Elks Lodge No. 1436.

A graduate of Salinas High School class of 1969, he enjoyed traveling all over the world, photography and history.

Proctor was also an avid mountain climber. He climbed Mount Everest, the Himalayas and mountains in Switzerland. He loved to cook for himself, friends and many community organizations.

He owned and operated Servicemaster Carpet Cleaning Services for more than 17 years in San Benito County. Prior to that, he worked with his father at the same business for 23 years in Salinas.

He is survived by his father, Walter Proctor and stepmother, Maxine Proctor both of Salinas; son, Nathaniel Proctor of Redding, Calif.; cousins, Kenneth Keller of Aurora, Colo., Leonard and Stephen Keller of Scranton, Penn.

Arrangements have been made for cremation through Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral crematory.

Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.

A private interment will be held at the garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas.

Donations are preferred to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or to hospice care of the funeral home.
