AUDITIONS: The San Benito Stage Company will hold auditions for its production of Oliver, based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and written by Lionel Bart. Auditions will be held for people ages 8-15 from 3-7 p.m. May 21 and 22 at the YMCA. Call 637-7293 for an appointment.
THE WIZARD OF OZ: The Spring Grove School of Theatre Arts will perform “The Wizard of Oz” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday May 22 and 2 p.m. Sunday May 23 at 500 Spring Grove Road in Hollister. Tickets cost $5. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
POWDER PUFF COMPETITION: Students at San Benito High School will hold their seasonal Powder Puff Competition beginning at 5:30 p.m. May 21 at Andy Hardin Field. The four classes of students will compete head-to-head and a dance will follow at 8 p.m. in Mattson Gym. Tickets cost $3 with the ASB stamp, $4 with a SBHS ID card, $5 general admission and $2 for children under 12.

BUDDY POPPYS: The Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 9242 Ladies will distribute Buddy Poppys on Friday and Saturday, May 21 and 22 at the Post Office and Nob Hill Foods stores. The Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #6359, will also hand out poppies May 21 and 22 in San Juan Bautista at the Windmill Market, San Benito Bank and the Post Office.
SWEET HEART DANCE: Will be held for adults 21 and older starting at 5:30 p.m. May 22 in Bolado Park. The event will feature music from the 60s, 70s and 80s and the band Shaboom. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and tickets are available for $25. Call 801-0903 for more information.
WOMEN’S HEALTH SUMMIT: The second-annual Tri-County Women’s Health Summit will be Wednesday, May 26, at the Corral de Tierra Country Club, 81 Corral de Tierra Rd., Salinas. The summit educates participants about the top issues facing women and girls and will form task force groups to identify strategies and develop plans to address the key issues. In addition, a free community health fair will be offered Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Natividad Creek Park, 1395 Nogal Drive, Salinas. Appreciation Day: Hollister United Methodist church is sponsoring a “Judy Rider Appreciation Day” from noon to 3 p.m. May 22 at Gate 4 of Bolado Park. EARS FUND-Raiser: Elephants of Africa Rescue Society is hosting a fund-raiser at the event facility at Wild Things in Salinas on Saturday, May 22. The semi-formal dinner/silent and live auction will be held under a spacious heated tent and feature the acrobatics of Wayne Handley Aerosports during a private airshow. Tickets are $125 each. FREE TOILETS: Residents of Hollister, San Juan Bautista and Sunnyslope can pick up a free water-saving toilet when you install it from the city of Hollister public works from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 22 and Saturday, June 12 at 1291 South St. San Juan Bautista residents may pick up toilets from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday May 8 at the City of San Juan Public Works on the corner of Jefferson and Second streets. PROJECT LINUS SAN BENITO CHAPTER: Will be collecting handmade blankets, yarn, yardage goods and monetary donations 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at San Benito Land Title on 260 Tres Pinos Road. SEWER IMPROVEMENTS: The city of Hollister and Harris & Associates will host a Public Meeting to discuss CEQA Scoping for the Domestic Wastewater System Improvements from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Room 204-A. Wake-Up San Benito County Breakfast: Join guest speaker Linda Daughenbaugh of Fast Travel at 7:30 a.m. May 25 in Paine’s Restaurant, 421 East St., for breakfast.
