Help Stamp Out Hunger: Put a bag of food out by your mailbox this Saturday, May 8 and support the Twelfth annual Letter Carriers Food Drive. Your letter carrier will pick up the food and have it delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank. It’s the largest annual one-day food drive in the United States. Food will be donated to low income school children who will soon be without the benefit of free and low cost school lunch and breakfast programs. Sheriff Meeting: The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 10 in the County Administration Building for the purpose of public input regarding the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Grant Application to the State of California Department of Parks. Chili cook-off: The Salvation Army will sponsor a Chili Cook-off to raise funds for youth and family programs in Hollister. Contestants can pick up an entry form at 910 Buena Vista Road by May 12. Awards will be given for the best four chilis. The Cook-off is scheduled at 5 p.m. on Saturday May 15. Entry to the event costs $5 for adults, $2.50 for children and contestants can enter for free.
