Byron Royer died peacefully on Saturday, April 16 at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy. He was 85.

He was born in Dark County, Ohio and grew up in Bradford. Byron worked in Dayton until joining up with the U. S. Army and Air Force to fight in World War II. He was in the Eighth and Ninth Air Force and spent four years in Europe.

After the war, he married his sweetheart, Noreene, whom he had met while stationed in England. They relocated to Washington D.C. where both of their children, Roger and Darcy were born. Byron spent his career with Burroughs Corporation and retired in 1985. Byron and Noreene then moved to Gilroy.

Byron loved to listen to good music, take care of his roses, play with his pets and be a super grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife, Noreene, his bride of 59 years; son Roger and his wife, Randy; daughter Darcy and her husband, Chuck; grandson Clay and his wife Sherrie; granddaughters Devon and Kendal; and great-granddaughter Alexis; sister Ruth; sister-in-law Helen; nephew Phil and wife, Patty, and family; and many relatives in England, Canada and Australia. Byron was truly a gentle soul and will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends.

A private memorial is being planned.
