through Oct. 10 in the Youth Art Gallery at the museum, 559 Pacific
St. The camp sessions introduced art projects focused on themes of
pirates, treasure and imagination as well as art and nature,
bookmaking and journaling. The museum is open Wednesday through
Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Admission
is $5 for adults, $2.50 for students and military personnel and
children under 12 years of age are admitted free. For more

Fun Run Sacred Heart/St. Benedict’s Parish will hold its annual 5-mile Steeple to Steeple Family Fun Run/Walk today beginning with race day registration at 7:30 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 1200 Fairview Road. A pre-registration fee of $25 per person; pre-registration ends Wednesday, Oct. 1 and all those who pre-register will receive a free T-shirt. Children 10 years of age and under may participate free of charge; T-shirts are available for children 10 years or under for $5 each. Day of race registration is $35 per person. Renaissance Faire The 2008 Northern California Renaissance Faire is now open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Casa de Fruta, 10031 Pacheco Pass Hwy. This one-of-a-kind event, hosted by Play Faire Productions, introduces visitors to exciting world between 1490 and 1630 by providing a living history event that includes live comedy, improvisation, music, dramatic performances, pirate invasions, and a Celtic weekend.

The faire will run weekends through Sunday, Oct. 12. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-12 years; children 5 years of age or younger are admitted free. A weekend pass, which covers the admission for one weekend, is $35 per adult. A “Fairever” pass, which allows unlimited access for all 12 days of the faire, is $150 per person. Passport Weekend Historic family wineries of Santa Clara Valley are hosting the annual Passport Weekend, today and tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Passport holders will have exclusive access to events such as barrel tastings, winery tours, barbecues, music, new releases and special discounts. The $25 Passport fee includes a souvenir wine glass, a wineries of Santa Clara Valley map and the passport. A wine taster’s kit may be purchased at any participating wineries’ tasting rooms, the Gilroy Visitors Bureau and the Gilroy or Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce. “Acorns and the Ohlone” Enter the world of the Ohlone Indian and see how they lived and ate during “Acorns and the Ohlone,” a learning event at the Coyote Lake Campfire Center today from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants can enjoy many different foods that the Ohlone ate and experience how they processed acorns, which formed the basis of the Ohlone diet. Participants should wear layered clothing. Cemetery tour Santa Cruz County’s infamous characters and rebel rousers are brought to life during the Evergreen Cemetery Tour: Suicides, Murders, and other Gory Stories today from 10 a.m. to noon at Evergreen Cemetery. Evergreen Cemetery was established in 1850, and as the final resting place for Santa Cruz’s earliest settlers, its dark paths, overgrown vegetation and crumbling stones provide an eerie setting for an array of ghosts. Drive-thru barbecue Pet Friends and Rescue will hold its annual Drive-thru Barbecue today from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the organization’s facility on Buena Vista Road. Tickets are $15 per person and include ½ barbecued chicken, garlic bread, chili beans and salad. Meals are available for take-out or can be enjoyed at Pet Friends, 2975 Buena Vista Rd. Polenta Dinner A Polenta Dinner Charity Benefit will be held tonight beginning at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church hall, 670 College St. For a $10 per person donation, guests will receive a meal including polenta, beef stew, cheese, salad, wine and ice cream for dessert. This event is hosted by the Italian Catholic Federation. Tickets are available at Pennywise Drugs or from any ICF member. Tickets must be purchased in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door.
