The Board of Supervisors decision to limit campaign finance fell
short of its goals.
Dear Editor:

The Board of Supervisors decision to limit campaign finance fell short of its goals. Measure G, the highly controversial land control initiative that they voted into law and overturned by a referendum of voters by an overwhelming 69 percent, was financed primarily by out-of-county environmentalist interests. Does the new law apply to ballot box initiatives or simply political candidates? The incoming supervisors would do well to recognize this lapse and modify the ordinance accordingly.
