Hollister resident Carl Carbone died Monday, April 7, 2003 at the William and Inez Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility after a period of failing health. He was 96.

Mr. Carbone was born in Oak Park, Ill. He had lived in Hollister for 25 years and was a California resident for more than 70 years. He was a retired telegraph operator for Western Union and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his brother, Eugene Carbone of Hollister; his niece and nephew, Marian Cruz and Paul E. Carbone, both of Hollister; and many great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Paul Carbone, and his brothers, Dominic and Emil Carbone.

Private graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorials are preferred to Hope Rehabilitation Services in Hollister.
