Long-time Hollister resident Carl L. Barnes died at his home on Tuesday, July 15. He was 75.

A native of Fresno, Calif., Mr. Barnes moved to Hollister in 1934 where he was a farmer and truck driver.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife Helen Barnes of Hollister; his children and their spouses Carol and Paul Tortorelli of Hollister, Wayne and Lorna Barnes of Watsonville, Sharon and Jack Taylor of Seaside; and his siblings Joe Barnes and Florence Altomare of Kingsburg, Calif., Paul Barnes of Hollister and Lilly Meyers of Fresno. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Pastor Duane Cashion of Grace Bible Church will officiate. A reception will follow at the home of Carol and Paul Tortorelli at 1090 Lone Tree Road, Hollister.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church.

Cremation will be followed by a private family inurnment.

Donations are preferred to the Visiting Nurse Association or a charity of donor’s choice.
