was 87 years old.

She lived most of her life in San Benito County and moved to Visalia just three years ago. During her life she was very active in San Benito Cattlewomen’s Association and was a past president, she volunteered at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in the auxiliary and worked in the thrift shop. She was selected as citizen of the year by the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Shields who died in 1991, her son, Jim Shields who died in 1983, a granddaughter, Carla Irene Shields and a great-grandson, Michael May.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mike and Annette Shields of Paicines, David and Dorothy Shields of Dinuba, George and Clara Shields of Hollister and Linda and Estes Grade of Bullhead City, Ariz. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 10am at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Rist will officiate. Interment and graveside services will follow the funeral at Willow Creek Cemetery in Paicines. A reception will follow the services at the family home in Paicines.
