87 at the Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility.
Carmen Theresa Horcajo passed away Friday evening at the age of 87 at the Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility.
Born July 13, 1917 in Spreckelsville, Maui, Hawaii coming to Hollister at the age of 2. Carmen had worked over 50 years with the local canneries, Fairview Cannery and San Benito Foods and also had worked with her husband, John, on their orchard. She loved reading, music, gardening and going to the movies. Member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, U.B.E of Hollister(Union Beneficia Espanol) and the Teamsters Union Local 890 of Salinas. Carmen, for many years, had served as a volunteer elections poll worker. Her late husband, John Horcajo, died in 1998. Mother of Ramon Horcajo, wife, Lydia, of Crawfordsville, Indiana; Margaret, “Peggy” Willard, husband, Tom, of Stockton; and John Horcajo, Jr., wife, Susan, of Hollister. Grandmother of Tom Willard, Jr., wife, Leesa, of Stockton; Michael Willard, wife, Kelli, of Napa; Barbara Gildea, husband, Tim, of Galt; Philip Horcajo, wife, Esperanza, of Crawfordsville, IN.; and Jennifer Alfson of Ben Lomond, Ca. Great Grandmother of Elizabeth Horcajo, Philip Horcajo, Jr., both of Indiana; Finnian and Aidan Willard both of Napa; Ryan Willard of Stockton and Sean Gildea of Galt. Sister of the late Tony, John, and James Castro, Joseph Corrales and Annie Gonzales.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 15 from 10am to 7pm at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister. Funeral services will begin Thursday morning from the funeral home at 9:30am proceeding to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a funeral Mass commencing at 10am. Graveside services and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister. Contributions are preferred to Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility or the San Benito Home Health Care, C/O Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.
