Passed away peacefully in Gilroy, CA on August 21, 2012, after a short but strong battle with Lung Cancer. Born in Watsonville, CA., wife and homemaker to Herschel Frank Shaffer for 44 years.She was a devoted Mom to Doug (Lynn), Stacey and Frankie and Grandma to her granddaughters Taylor and Brooke- “The light of her life.” She would drive to Hollister from Los Banos everyday to watch Taylor and Brooke and pick them up at Tres Pinos School every day. She was and always will be- a huge part in their lives and will be missed dearly.

 Carolyn always supported local charities in various towns, Gilroy, Hollister, Los Banos, etc. She often made special blankets for children in need and she would send packages overseas to our Troops every year. She had a “green thumb” and always enjoyed taking care of her yard and garden – “She loved her flowers.”

 Carolyn was a huge fan of Drag Racing, every Sunday she was watching her drags on T.V.

 Preceded in death by her parentsClyde and Clarice Colbert, her brother Doug Colbert,her sister Virginia “Ginger” and brother-in-law and John, her mother-in-law Alice Mae Simmons Shaffer, father-in-law Herschel Frank Shaffer, sister-in-law Annie, sister-in-law Mary.

 Survived by her husband Herschel Frank Shaffer, her son Doug (Lynn), her daughter Stacey and her-son Frankie, her granddaughters Taylor and Brooke,her brother Ronald Clyde Colbert (Donna), Sister Renee Jewell (Jerry), her sister-in-law Betty, sister-in-law Frances (Tom),her brother-in-law David (Lilly), her brother-in-law Paul (Sylvia),sister-in-law Sharon, sister-in-law Jackie, and many nieces and nephews.

 A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church 7290 Airline Hwy, Tres Pinos, CA 95023, on Friday, September 7th, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. Family would appreciate Donations to Immaculate Conception Church in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy, CA.
