A 41-year-old Hollister resident was airlifted and a 48-year-old San Jose resident was taken to a local hospital after an accident on Highway 25 on Monday morning, according to authorities.
The accident was reported at 7:15 a.m. south of Bolsa Road on Highway 25, according to the California Highway Patrol. It resulted in both vehicles catching on fire, according to the CHP.
Responders transported the Hollister man by air ambulance with moderate injuries to a San Jose hospital. The San Jose man was transported by ground ambulance with minor injuries.
The Hollister driver was northbound in a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro when, for unknown reasons, he lost control, crossed the double-yellow lines and entered the southbound lane, striking the 1994 Acura Legend driven by the San Jose man.
Neither alcohol nor drug impairment were suspected. The accident resulted in both lanes being blocked for an hour and 15 minutes, according to the CHP.
