Longtime Hollister resident Catherine J. Dryden died Thursday, Sept. 28, at Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility in Hollister. She was 84.

Dryden came to California at age 10 from Scotland. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollister.

She worked for many years with her husband at both the Sugar Plum Restaurant and the Dryden Fruit Company as a bookkeeper.

She is survived by her husband Elwood Dryden of Hollister; daughters Barbara (Paul) Villescas of Fresno and Diane (Ted) Schmidt of Hollister; son David (Kim) Dryden of Hollister; grandsons Chad Hayden of Fresno, Chris Hayden of Lodi, Blake Schmidt of Fresno, Greg Dryden of Santa Barbara and Dan Dryden of San Jose; granddaughters Katie Schmidt of Hollister and Jenna Dryden of Davis.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 2066 Cienega Rd. in Hollister.

Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donations may be sent to the Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility or the First Presbyterian Church building fund.
